The National University of Science and Technology commemorated World Day for Health and Safety at Work, observed on Friday, April 28, 2023, by displaying awareness posters on screens throughout the university. This celebration aligns with the center's new direction to focus on global and international days, in line with the United Nations General Assembly's resolutions.
The day focuses on occupational risk management and aims to enhance the occupational health and safety management system, which is based on the principle of continuous improvement and the implementation of preventive measures through four steps: planning, execution, evaluation, and improvement. The system also promotes cooperation between workers and management to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
Since 2003, the International Labour Organization has celebrated this day, focusing on the prevention of workplace accidents and diseases through social dialogue and cooperation between governments, workers' organizations, and employers. Additionally, April 28 is linked to honoring the memory of victims of occupational accidents and diseases, a tradition adopted by the global labor movement since 1996.
